KUKI FESTIVAL

Kinderhaus Mitte

Thanks to the generous donations to our "Sponsor a Seat" campaign, we were able to invite children from the foster home, "Kinderhaus Mitte" to the festival this year. They loved it! For those who understand German, check out the report they wrote here.

This is what visiting filmmakers said about KUKI 2011

"We had such an amazing experience: not only were we welcomed by a very professional team, not only did we get to watch some truly amazing films, the best part was to see this audience of youngsters indulge in cinema. I never thought I would say this to a penguin, but, KUKI, you rock!" - Pieter De Vos, Belgium (director of Sikitiko, The King's Hand)

"The kids were the best audience I've ever had!" - Toni Nordli, Norway (director of Shark Bait)

"I'd like to send a BIG thank you to the festival team for the great time at KUKI and at interfilm! Thanks for the warm reception, your interest in my film, as well as your hospitality. I was delighted to be able to participate in the festival and look forward to coming again soon." - Tamer Ruggli, Switzerland (director of Cappuccino)

"We loved our time in Berlin at your festival! Thank you so much! And winning was of course the best ending ever!" - Lilian Sijbesma, Netherlands (director of Marijn)

"We had very nice days in Berlin during the KUKI Festival. There was a very good selection of films that we enjoyed really much, the organization of the festival was pretty good and there were many events that gave us the opportunity to meet other directors and professionals. The one thing I liked the most, was that the selection of films shown at KUKI was pretty open-minded, there were many films about "being different". I think it's important to show these kinds of films to children, so that they'll be a part of a open-minded culture when they are older. We had a great time and I think I fell in love with Berlin... " - Bella Szederkényi, Hungary (director of Orsolya)

"Thank you for holding such an enriching festival! We had an amazing time meeting the young audience at the screenings. Their reactions were so interesting and inspiring, giving us great insights into documentaries about and for children. We also really enjoyed the other films that were screened   -   it was a great selection! Thank you again for your warm hospitality and we hope to see you at the next Kuki Festival in Berlin." - Daniella Santo-Gardosh, Israel (Head of Children and Youth Department, Israel Broadcasting Authority) and Gil Lesnik, Israel, (director of Dolphin Smile)
