Lec 1 How the movies start - Main Title Design
A film almost never begins without mentioning the title, producers, director, and actors. But since the beginning of the film era, filmmakers have been trying to bridge the gap between information and attraction. Graphics and film have fused, resulting in new forms that improve the cinematic experience.
The symposium guides us through the history of the main title and aims to demonstrate and discuss examples of the most recent developments and tendencies.

Lec 2 The Problems with short films and how to solve them!
A lecture on short film script development:
Of the thousands of short films made in Europe every year only a handful of works receive awards. In this short lecture, Phil Parker, who has developed a number of award-winning short films, explains why.
Phil Parker is a freelance development and training consultant working in the UK and Germany, whose clients include Aardmann Animation, Nord Media, and the British Film Council. He is also the founder and course director of MA Screenwriting, LCC, University of the Arts, London, one of Europe’s most successful film and TV courses, and author of "The Art and Science of Screenwriting" (Intellect, 2001).
Lec 3 The script for the script – narrative strategies in advertising and film
Albert Heiser recently published "The Script for the Script – Narrative Strategies in Advertising and Film".
It is the first subject-specific book on advertising and short film, unravelling the descriptive structure of both mediums, and refining the pool from which professional short film writers and producers extract their ideas. A tool for polished short film and commercial film scripts - enjoyable for filmmakers and audiences alike.
For years, Albert Heiser worked as creative director and writer for advertising firms. He now teaches advertisement concepts and production at the Berlin University of the Arts and freelances as consultant, director, and author. Heiser will use representative films to illustrate certain dramaturgical basics.
