“Kinder machen Kurzfilm“ is a project headed by Bewegliche Ziele e.V. in cooperation with interfilm. It includes a script competition, a script-writing workshop and a production workshop for 5th and 6th graders from numerous elementary schools in Berlin. Approximately 600 children took part in the script competition, sending in their comical, thoughtful, imaginative and exciting stories on the subject “Being Foreign – Being Different?”. “Grau in Grau,” by a student at Picasso Elementary in Weißensee, won the competition with the tale of a pencil constantly ridiculed by snobby roller-ball pens, and how he shows just what he’s made of. In the course of the writing workshop, the story became a script, and a selected group of children turned it into moving pictures. The film will be shown during the Festival Opening as well as precede each KuKi program.
