"Letters to Doctor L" as presented in the Short Film Walk, is part of a six channel video installation by Laurence Favre.
The artist Laurence Favre was invited to present her ongoing research that tends towards an inclusive history, between individual and collective memory. At her request, people closely link to the history or territories of the French-speaking missions wrote a letter to Doctor L, an enigmatic missionary who settled in southern Africa around 1900. She then puts these stories into images, which draws a fragmentary history that is always reinvented.

As part of the digital Short Film Walk we present the trailer of "Majubs's Journey".
The essayistic documentary Majub's Journey tells the story of an African man who lived in Nazi Germany during the 1930s and worked as an extra in the movie industry. He was born in the German colony Deutsch-Ostafrika and became a soldier for the Germans during World War I – when he was only nine years old.
After the Germans lost the war, they failed to hand him his military pay. About a decade later he decides to travel to Germany and personally collect his outstanding money.
This film tells his story – his childhood in the colony and his life and in Nazi Germany – including the holes that the archive leaves open. (Eva Knopf)

The Mourning Citizen is an extension of The Mourning, an original body of work conceptualised by Trixie Munyama in 2016. This time around, the work interrogates the underlay of the genocide as a historical focal point which continues to haunt our present.
This performance art is an onsite collaboration between various Namibian artists with an immersive artistic intervention featuring visuals, soundscapes and performance art, bringing a personal experience as the audience becomes part of the performance. For the “Latitude” festival, Trixie Munyama and her artistic companions convert the work into a digital format.

Performance, Non-Narrative
The Mourning Citizen is an extension of The Mourning, an original body of work conceptualised by Trixie Munyama in 2016. This time around, the work interrogates the underlay of the genocide as a historical focal point which continues to haunt our present.
This performance art is an onsite collaboration between various Namibian artists with an immersive artistic intervention featuring visuals, soundscapes and performance art, bringing a personal experience as the audience becomes part of the performance. For the “Latitude” festival, Trixie Munyama and her artistic companions convert the work into a digital format.
(by Trixie Munyama)
In the short film walk only the opening sequence from "The Mourning Citizen" by Trixie Munyama will be shown, the full film & performance art can be found online at Latitude Festival by Goethe-Institut (https://youtu.be/kYmE0smS-Og).
