DEUTSCHER WETTBEWERB

GC 03 Fluss

Rivers are natural borders. In spite of their perpetual motion, they can serve as a sort of home or space for escape from the city’s constricting influence. Though it’s true that their currents are not without danger, the temptation is great to let one’s self be carried along by their unstoppable forward motion. One moment, rivers seem to meander along the path prescribed by their beds, immutable, the next they are spilling over their banks, blurring boundaries, eluding our control and generating forces that sweep everything along with them. Thus, they symbolise our longing for change, our need to break free from the predetermined path and press forward into unfamiliar territory.
