Where does reality end, where does fiction begin? Since the very beginning of cinema, this question has repeatedly raised its head. The boundary between the two is continuously blurred: every documentary film is staged, every fiction feature is a product of its time and context, from which it cannot be extricated. Reality always catches back up to film, sinks its teeth in deep, hides itself within images. And still, it escapes our grasp, it eludes our control. All that remains is the gaze we direct upon it.
