On an abandoned industrial site, an old man sets off on a lonely, mystical journey. His search for the truth leads him deep inside a factory to find the core of the problem.
Three Questions for the Director
1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?
Calvin Antoine Blandin (CAB): I think short formats allow me to explore themes that trigger me a lot in a different way. Most of the time directing a film on such a short timeline does not allow you to develop everything and force you, in a way, to give a metaphor of your idea. And I love metaphors and find them even more accurate than a real sentence sometimes.
2. The program your film is selected for is called “Exposing your Demons”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?
Calvin Antoine Blandin (CAB): As soon as we create, we offer the world our demons on a silver plate. I feel comfortable with it. I found this program accurate. And it is common knowledge that an artist cures his/her interior dilemma by creating. If people are good enough to watch what result of it I can only be grateful.
3. What film has inspried you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?
Calvin Antoine Blandin (CAB): This kind of questions are very tough to answer. But I think my main influences that gave birth to my need (or curse) about filmmaking, simply come from my childhood and mainly popular culture. "I am the soup of I", and as a soup, everything that compose and composed me is present in my work, did I tell you I like metaphors? I did not tell good ones^^
