Three Questions for the Director
1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?
Zamarin Wahdat: What I love about the short form is that it enables you to push the boundaries of storytelling. I can try things out and inn a way am more free to trust my intuition because there is not as much financial pressure to do things "right".
2. The program your film is selected for is called “Hier hast du Beine, jetzt kannst du laufen.”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?
Zamarin Wahdat: For me it means that there is a platform for Bambirak to stand on its own and to be viewed by an audience that accepts and understand new forms or slightly different forms of storytelling!
3. What film has inspried you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?
Zamarin Wahdat: Beast of Southern Wild, Spaghetti Westerns, Japanese Animation and the film Biutiful! This is a wide range of films and I think I am inspired by a wild range of things and somehow collect them in my chaotic brain and piece them back together! But that is I think the beauty of art and filmmaking! You draw from
different films and somehow it all seems chaotic I think that is how I work as a filmmaker. I need chaos in order to create and find my thin red line.
