Since Marisa retired, her life has changed profoundly: she feels useless, abandoned, aimless. A meeting with a secret organisation reveals the truth behind one of human history's deepest mysteries: road traffic.
Three Questions for the Director
1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?
Giovanni Boscolo & Daniele Niozzi: The short format fascinates me because it is a unique format. It challenges you to tell a story in a short time, it forces you to tackle important issues from a new and original point of view. You don't have the time to fully dissect them, so it forces you to be essential, to open questions rather than give answers.
2. The program your film is selected for is called “Embracing your Instinct”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?
Giovanni Boscolo & Daniele Niozzi: Instinct is one of the strongest energies that the human being has and it can be declined in various ways: fear, love, sadness, joy... The protagonists of our story start from this instinct they feel and, looking it in the face, they find a completely original way to deal with it.
3. What film has inspried you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?
Giovanni Boscolo & Daniele Niozzi: There isn't a particular film, there are many. Certainly we have been influenced by a certain type of comedies, those of Italian neorealism but also American or English ones. In particular, we have always liked those stories that manage to make comedy starting from dramatic things and that have a passionate look at their protagonists without ever judging them. We hope that a piece of this look is also present in our short.
