Essay films take different paths in their argumentation. Featuring decidedly subjective points-of-view, they break free from the constraints of conventional narrative patterns. These films often start off from small details, from the highly personal, lingering on these observations to develop statements about the nature of human coexistence. What we have here are thought experiments, in which, for instance, first-person shooters are examined for their pacifist potential, house pets challenge the fundamental tenets of religion or endangered species are conserved in digital space.
