These days, sadly it is hard to imagine the European headlines without bad news from Hungary, thanks to Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his anti-democratic machinations. For two years now, he has been ruling the country by decree, without the approval of parliament, in what is the political manifestation of patriarchal ideology. The Budapest-based short film festival Friss Hús is seeking to counter this development with a program exclusively consisting of work by female filmmakers, featuring powerful films, loud voices and quiet protest. A declaration of love for a country and war against its politicians.
