IC 01 Roads Not Traveled

The short films of the International Competition also mirror the political turbulence of our times. The protagonists of the "Roads Not Traveled" series are faced with choices: like whether to contradict their völkisch-nationalistic community, or help refugees facing push-back from third parties or whether to confront a partner about an affair – and they don't always manage to make the (supposedly) right decision. Change can come suddenly: for instance, when "Swan Lake" is the only thing left on Soviet TV or a grieving woman pan-fries her goldfish. Here, the mundane becomes a symbol for upheaval.
