Participatory democracy is aces: so, we've assembled the audience favourites from nine short film festivals into one competition. Joining forces here: Clermont-Ferrand (France), Encounters (Great Britain), Go Short (The Netherlands), Curtas Vila do Conde (Portugal), INTERFILM Berlin (yours truly, Germany), Alcine (Spain), Short Waves (Poland), BSFF (Belgium), and Tampere (Finland). As the democratic process can be protracted, regular guests might notice a work from last year here or there. In this second-to-last round, the Berlin audience gets to see the favourite films from eight other European festivals and vote on which one they like best. Finally this film will then head to Brussels for a final decision. It couldn't be more complicated, but it couldn't be more beautiful either.
