Looking back & Festival Impressions 2024

It is always an experiment, a balancing act between trial, error and wishful thinking: We spend a year working towards this week, exploring films, ideas, the pulse of the times - feeling out relevance and facilitating discourse. We set out to make a contribution, create meaning, make the world tangible, the success of which only becomes clear when the doors of the festival cinemas are finally flung open, and the films are collectively watched and discussed. We are therefore all the more delighted and grateful that this week dedicated to coming together over short films has been received with such enthusiastic resonance, for the selection of films, what they stand for and the way in which they were presented at our festivals.

More than 300 films in around 70 programs, more than 20,000 visitors in 13 locations, over 150 individual events in 8 days and countless emotions, insights, impressions, conversations and new friendships: INTERFILM 40 and KUKI 17 have been and gone in a colourful, expressive rush!

That's why we want to shout it out loud: A thousand thanks to all the people who made this possible! To our great team of over 100 people for their perseverance and support, to the curators and presenters for their vision and passion, to the filmmakers for their trust, to the juries, the venues, the restaurants, the DJs, the partners & sponsors for their cooperation, and to the audience for their attendance, attention and applause. Without these vital synergies, there would be neither INTERFILM nor KUKI! - Thank you!
