Pola was born in Berlin in 1982. Raised by a theatre and film family, she developed an early interest in art, photography, and the moving image. After various directing internships she spent a year at the European Film College in Denmark in 2003, where she shot her first shortfilm: an erotic fairy tale. From 2005-2011, she studied directing at the filmuniversity Babelsberg. Her first feature film "Am Himmel der Tag" (2012) won several awards. With the TV-series hit "Druck", she began to focus on series work, followed by "Das letzte Wort" (Netflix), "Liebe.Jetzt!" (ZDFneo), the sci-fi series "Tender Hearts" (Sky) and the feature film "Der Russe ist einer, der Birken liebt".
Pola usually tells stories intuitively from a female perspective and deals with topics such as love, family, forms of relationships and how people grow from and through crisis situations. She is currently developing a family thriller/drama with WDR and is working on a graphic novel adaptation. Pola lives and works in Berlin.
