GC 01 Expectations of Absence

Nostalgic stories about our daily lives. Longing for a past, a present and what is yet to come.

Melancholy and yearning permeate this program as past, present, and future intertwine. A young Afro-German confronts his depression and discovers his true strength in therapy. In a nearly deserted harbour, a woman and her niece dream of another life, while a man struggles with his identity in a dystopian world. In six films, the quiet moments are reflected, where what is missing shapes us.

All films will be shown in their original language with English subtitles, non-German language films will be shown with additional German subtitles.
