Filmmakers today are faced with monumental challenges: the expectation that they position themselves politically, hyper-rapid technological developments, precarious work and living conditions and the growing pressure to professionalise their practice – emanating from the film industry and festivals as well. Four films about filmmaking. Sounds sick, right? It sure is! Because the protagonists here manage, in spite of everything, to make clever, authentic, entertaining, empathetic and self-assured films. WOW!
