International Competition

In the International Competition, the world stands before a shattered mirror with its fragments reflecting the sharp themes of our time—sometimes dripping with blood, sometimes fragrant with paradisiacal blossoms. Five curators have been captivated by 50 works that depict the multiplicity of perspectives in an increasingly complex world. Visions clash with realities, narratives draw from an infinite reservoir of hope and become concrete through subjectivity and individuality. Here, imagination proves to be the healing glue for a reasoned, far-sighted view.

At times we follow protagonists calmly into the depths of their souls, at other times we are swept into a whirlwind of joy and sorrow. Stories spiral into madness and exaggeration and vibrant colors are measured against logic and analysis. The eight programs merge realism with Kafkaesque elements, psychedelia with reflection, and they glimpse global possibilities through the lens of the future.

Curation: Andrea Schwemmer, Cord Dueppe, Ilana Glizer, Matthias Groll, Yugen Yah
