WEAVING TOMORROWS

FOCUS 02 Dear Friends, Lovers, and Comrades

When people resist social norms and build relationships through difference, love, care, violence or fleeting attraction, it opens spaces for other stories. A long song that ancestors sang in factories. A brief encounter in the woods. Hands behind back, fists raised. Love, violence, care, attraction – all interwoven in networks, bonds, conflicts: resistance is blooming, and someone has to show it.

Curatorial Statement by Elisa Mohr

Now that the weight of silence has been lifted, there’s space for other stories. Which ones do we want to tell? The one of a long song which the ancestors sang in the same factories. Or of a fleeting meeting in the woods. Hands behind your back – in a duel with yourself, lift your fist, higher! I dream of a redistribution of power. And of a good swim in a lake. But why are we even doing this? Resistance is a flower, and somebody has to do it. (This text consists of quotes from the films. I hope you enjoy the program!)
