How can a director get his or her own short film into a film festival effectively and how is it possible to improve the chances of receiving an Oscar® nomina- tion while still saving money? At the INTERFILM Masterclass, the award-winning director BASIL KHALIL shares his experiences gained at a number of different film festivals. He sheds light on the myths surrounding the Oscar® nomination and shows what really happens behind the scenes.

In his masterclass, Carter Pilcher, short film producer and founder of Shorts International, which acts as distributor, broadcaster and producer, provides insights into evaluation strategies and possibilities for marketing a short film with the aim of earning money in a highly competitive market.
