Fear is what remains when all principles of order have been exhausted. Situations in which people feel threatened are omnipresent, whether it’s the constant danger of being excluded, a proneness to crisis, or abuse of power. Fear has become one of the driving forces of society. Films mirror this loss of certitudes with radical subjectification. We are confronted by fear in its many faces with a look at the cellphone, with an unsparing point-of-view shot on the way home one night, and with an irrational feeling in a borderland area that initially seems objectively expansive.
