Green Film Competition

The Earth is on the brink of an ecological disaster. It’s high time for scrutiny and for people to get active. The GREEN FILM AWARD has explored the current situation of nature and the environment from a cinematic perspective since 2010, reminding us with urgency about the political, social, and health factors leading to environmental destruction. The animated films, documentaries, live-action short films, comedies, and tragedies criticize exploitation, profit mongering, and greed. We are called into responsible action by the grotesque situation of environmental pollution, global warming, the clearing of virgin forests, the extinction of species, and the negative impact of technological progress. While the films in this competition caution and jolt us, they remain gripping and entertaining to the end. The Heinrich Böll Foundation will present the award for this competition. There is a separate competition, GREEN FILM ONLINE AWARD, where you can vote on films with an environmental impact online (interfilm.de) from November 1 until November 22. Donkey Republic will present the award for the online competition this year.

INTERFILM BERLIN is a member of the GREEN FILM NETWORK (GFN), which is an international network that hosts annual film festivals with an environmental impact. It is intended to also foster the global exchange of film festivals. 39 film festivals from 33 countries are a part of the GFN.
