Spezial programs

The competitions are the centerpiece of any festival. All the attention and interest is directed at them. However, a heart needs a body in order to function, just like the special programs at INTERFILM. They show a wide range of narratives, styles, and visual means of expression, such as alternative ways of living that are different from mainstream thought like in QUEER FEVER, silent films accompanied by the theater organ like in SHORT & SILENT, and absurd surrealistic moments like in REALITY BITES.

The 34th edition also gives us new talents from China. For the first time ever, and in cooperation with universities and colleges for film and multimedia located on mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, CHINA: NEW TALENTS showcases fresh, courageous, creative minds that explore conventional society and humanity from a cinematic perspective.

And finally INTERFILM presents BIG DATA where we look at what makes up the data-driven society, how the mad desire to collect data will impact us in the future, and how we should react to it.

The curatorial positions are very diverse, and through this breadth reveal what motivates the short films of today.
