Resistance in divided Germany and today: in the west, they danced on the Wall to the sound of arias – to the east, in Prenzlauer Berg residents sought to open up space for experiments, while dissenters were under lock and key at Hoheneck women’s prison. Opposition and sub-cultures can be found around the world: a group of young activists stir things up in Sweden, a Kurdish mother can’t make it out to the chicken coop, hindered by a political ball and chain, while in Mexico a journalist fights against the mafia, and men run nude through an English village.
