KUKI .15 Young Short Film Festival Berlin
13 - 20 November 2022

Elisa Aseva

was born in Khartoum/Sudan in 1979, and lives & works in Berlin. As a representative of contemporary digital literature, she was invited to the 12th Literaturfestival Berlin in 2020, prior to the publication of her first book. Über Stunden is her first book, in which her writing appears in all aggregate states - the kaleidoscope of her writing is composed of poetic as well as political reflections, auto-fictional, fantastic & essayistic gems.

A glimpse into Elisa's world can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/elisa_aseva/

What will Elisa's workshop be about?

All tones, one skin

The skin is the largest human organ, it separates us as an organism from the outside world. At the same time, it is the sensory organ through which we most strongly come into contact with the world, receive sensory experiences + touch. It has both a protective and a permeable, receptive function.

In the workshop I would like to focus on the skin as a metaphor for personal + political development. Where does the inside start where the outside, where the self + where the general + how do we connect the apparent binaries?

Felipa Goltz (she/her)

was born in 1998 and transitioned from theatre to film as a teenager. After delving into various film-related trades, a year in Skopje and three semesters of sociolinguistics, she has been studying at the Babelsberg Film University since 2021 and works in set design as well as a director and graphic designer. Felipa was also a member of KUKI's first curation workshop for teenagers in 2014 and has since designed various workshop posters for KUKI.

On Felipa's Instagram you can find, among other things, a vulva painting course: https://www.instagram.com/besser_scheitern/

What is Felipa up to in the workshop?

Our struggles are connected - we'll talk about the concept of intersectionality and all the layers that both we and the world are composed of. And if that doesn't sound big enough, maybe we'll dedicate ourselves to a bit of queerfeminist utopia!

Screening, "Brainwashed" by Nina Menkes, USA, 2022

In place of a third mentor, this year Girls* Riot will have an exclusive screening of Nina Menkes’ feature length documentary BRAINWASHED for the workshop participants. The film celebrated its world premiere at Sundance this year and was also invited to the Panorama section of the Berlinale shortly after. Many thanks to Nina Menkes who has personally allowed us to show her film within this context.
