KUKI .19 Young Short Film Festival Berlin
08 - 15 November 2026

KUKI Juries

At KUKI, children and teenagers have the power to decide which films will be awarded a prize. Each of our three juries is made up of an entire school class. They each watch the two competition programs for their age groups at the cinema during the festival week, discuss all the films and then choose the winning film for their section. At the award ceremony on November 9 at the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain, representatives from the classes will take to the stage, give their speeches, and present the awards. We are already excited to find out which films will win – and would like to thank our juries for taking on this important task!

Which school class would like to be the jury this year?

We are looking for three enthusiastic school classes to form this year's juries!

Our sponsors are donating three prizes for the following categories:

-Best short film for young children

-Best short film for children

-Best short film for teenagers

From these two programs, two children's juries and one youth jury will then select a winning film, which will receive prize money. In addition, the jury may award a “special mention” for a particular film.

Basic requirements for jury work:

  •     Jury 1 watches the competition programs for ages 4 and up and ages 6 and up, so it is important that the students are at least 6 years old.
  •     Jury 2 watches the competition programs for ages 8 and up and ages 10 and up, so the students must be at least 10 years old.
  •     Jury 3 watches our TeenScreen competition programs for ages 12 and up and ages 14 and up, so students must be at least 14 years old.
  •     Time: You must have time to watch both programs in the cinema, discuss the films in class, and select the winning film.

If your school class would like to take on this important task, please contact us at info@kuki-berlin.com.

We will then send you more detailed information about the jury process.

One thing we can tell you now: School classes selected as jurors do not pay admission to the two competition programs they are judging!
