KUKI .17 Young Short Film Festival Berlin

WEBSITE <<

3 - 10 November 2024

With 66 brilliant films from 32 countries, this is the strongest KUKI year ever, with so many films expressing resistance, solidarity, queerness, community and compassion across the programme, but also offering fun, adventure, explosions of creativity and deep personal insights - just the way we like it!

Both competition programs for a youth audience were curated in summer holiday workshops by 18 teenagers, and their selection of astonishing films will open your eyes to the concerns and interests of their generation.

This year's five competition programmes for children aged 4 to 12 present 31 witty and innovative animated, feature and documentary films from Peru, Taiwan, Lithuania, India, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Palestine, the USA, France, Iran, Canada, Nigeria, Western Sahara, Spain, Rojava, Switzerland and Croatia. Each program is a showcase of international award-winning films and new discoveries that introduce even the youngest audiences to the rich world of cinema. Researched and curated by: Monica Koshka-Stein, Fredi Klutas, Sophie Röder, Raphael Kent, Marianne Huber und Lilly Thurner.

The 3 major KUKI prizes are awarded by young juries from school classes and the audience is the jury for the documentary film competition. KUKI's sole adult jury awards the FBW Special Prize.
