EV 04 Award Ceremony

A film festival win can mean trophies, lovely photos and (sometimes) a cash prize. The first are nice to look at, while one often looks nice on the second. And, often enough, filmmakers use the third to pay off debts incurred in making the winning film. Still, the crucial significance of a short film festival win is how it can have a positive impact on one's career path. Especially in the economically less relevant world of short film, a win and the accompanying visibility mean a whole lot more for filmmakers than just a flurry of flashbulbs and fame. Since 2018, interfilm has been an Academy Qualifying® Festival. The winning films in "Best Fiction" and "Best Animation" in the International Competition are automatically entered into the running for an OSCAR® in the categories "Live Action Short" and "Animated Short Film". That means, at the award ceremony, our juries place filmmakers in the spotlight and on a springboard to a potential international break-through.
