KUKI Juries

What kind of animation amazes a six-year-old? Which documentaries fascinate ten-year-olds, and can a fiction film leave teenagers breathless?

Only children and teenagers can answer these questions, which is exactly why they are given the judging scepter at the KUKI Festival. The winning films of the competition programs 4+ and 6+ are chosen by a group of young children from the primary school “auf dem lichten Berg”, while kids between the ages of 10-13 will choose the winning films from the programs 8+ and 10+. The TeenScreen jurors are aged 14 to 17 and will select the winners from the 12+ and 14+ programs.

As these awards hold international significance for filmmakers, the jury's work entails a great deal of commitment and responsibility.

If you would like to be in one of the KUKI juries in 2019, write to us at workshop@kuki-berlin.com and we will contact you as soon as applications open!

FBW Jury

We are thrilled to announce our first year of cooperation with the Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung as award sponsors at both the KUKI and interfilm Festivals. At KUKI, an expert three-member jury has the task of judging all German productions and co-productions from the entire festival program.
As the KUKI Festival presents films aimed at a broad spectrum of 4-18 year-olds it poses a particular challenge to our jury, Marjo Kovanen, Lukas Klung and Rochus Wolff to assess and judge the films fairly alongside each other. The prize for the winning filmmaker is a free submission to the FBW for one of their films, with the chance of being awarded the title “Particularly valuable.” The attention attached to this distinction is particularly beneficial to young filmmakers and can help with the financing of further projects.
