KUKI 12 - International Short Film Festival for Children
and Youth Berlin 2019

KUKI Juries

At KUKI, kids and teenagers always get the last word! That’s why they are also allowed to decide themselves which filmmakers get to take home a trophy at the end of the festival. Three juries select the recipients of multiple prizes here, with a total value of 3000€. For the filmmakers, being honored at KUKI has great international significance – as such, jury work is characterized by a high degree of responsibility.

In co-operation with the multi-generational residence “Buntes Haus” in Hellersdorf, a group of children aged 6 and up will determine the winning films from the competition programs for children aged 4 and 6 years and up.

Two fifth grade classes from Berlin Bilingual School make up the members of Jury II, and will choose their favorites from the competition programs for children aged 8 and 10 years and up. In our youth jury workshop, teens between the ages of 14 and 17 will be selecting their favorite films from the competition programs for adolescents 12 and 14 years and older.

FBW Jury

As part of our cooperation with the  Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung ( German federal authority for evaluating and rating film and media) we will award a special prize at KUKI! This years jury comprising Petra Rockenfeller, Yugen Yah and Lotta Schwerk, , will watch and judge the German productions and co-productions featured in all the 13 different KUKI programs. This includes children's and youth films for various age groups, with varying levels of complexity - a formidable challenge that our jury was eager to take on! The prize to be won is a free submission to the FBW, with the chance of being awarded the title "Besonders Wertvoll" (particularly valueable).

The resulting attention can be beneficial for the promotion and funding of current and future projects.
