Drei Fragen an die Regie
1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?
Marko Djeska: Short film format is best way to tell the story because it's most economic. Feature film cost way to much than short film. But also, it is challenging because to tell a story in such a short format you need to be able to compress everything you wanna say in these several minutes length which demands a lot of practice and knowledge of story telling than a feature that gives you much more freedom of time.
2. The program your film is selected for is called “Framing Realities”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?
Marko Djeska: Probably the fact that the protagonist of my film, is a real trans-girl Matia who is facing her own reality of being trapped inside the male body through the childhood. For her and other transgender people facing reality is much harder due to societies in which we are living. Sometimes it can be hard but still necessarily.
3. What film has inspired you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?
Marko Djeska: The most inspiring films for my film All Those Sensations in my Belly were animation documentaries that tells honest and intimate, personal stories such as Persepolis, and also short film 'Beautiful Woman'(Mooi Missi) from Diego Nurse which also talks about being transgender in nowadays society.
