Hugo Arcier // Frankreich // 2020 // 09:04 min

Animation, Experimental

1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?

Hugo Arcier: I've always been interested in short formats, I think it's a perfect fit for experimental projects. It's a form that allows you to take risks

2. The program your film is selected for is called “Body Talk”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?

Hugo Arcier: Clinamen is a dance film. The choreography follows the different phases of the film. What is particular in the film is that the body of the dancers is never visible, but by their movement the spectator recreates an imaginary body. The body comes to life in the mind of the spectator.

3. What film has inspired you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?

Hugo Arcier: The spectrum of sources of inspiration is so vast that I find it difficult to answer such a question. Let's say that I am attracted by films with a strong visual and plastic dimension like Under the Skin by Jonathan Glazer.
