Drei Fragen an die Regie

1. Short Film has a unique way of telling stories and exploring themes. What is it that fascinates you about the short format?

Adrian Figueroa: The short format allows filmmakers to be more experimental and to pursue unconventional and radical ways of storytelling.

2. The program your film is selected for is called “Hier hast du einen Kopf, jetzt kannst du sehen.”: What connection do you see between your film and that title?

Adrian Figueroa: "Letters from Silivri" draws on letters of Osman Kavala to document a timeline of his imprisonment. By separating voice and image the film intends to create a head-space that allows audiences to listen more carefully to Kavalas letters, while at the same time place his words in context to a civil society.

3. What film has inspried you most to make films yourself and what part of it do you see in your own work?

Adrian Figueroa: My first and most memorable cinema experience was watching Spielberg's Jurassic Park in my local cinema in Frankfurt. Although I have never made a film about dinosaurs :) I want to expose my audience to new worlds.
