Viewed from the sofa the world can seem a truly fascinating place, with intriguing faraway destinations, even presumed spiritual homes. So what to do when a single summer day changes your entire life forever? How to say goodbye to beloved people or revised versions of oneself? Thoughts become images, words morph into poetry, and the imagination takes on mammoth proportions. It can become so big as to be dangerous, and the blow struck benignly for liberation can quickly deteriorate into a bloodbath. To put it in a nutshell, life just doesn’t fit in a nutshell.
