What comes to mind when you think about Europe? Generally, the continental borders. But there are people from the Old Continent living in the Caribbean due to the colonization of the region. And the relationship of these overseas territories to Europe is complex, influencing the nascent film scene of Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana. Caribbean Power gives viewers the chance to cinematically experience the conflict between oppression and admiration and diaspora and cultural hybridization through music videos with manifold references, poetic and magical narrations, and political films.
