When a familiar setting appears on the cinema screen, a feeling of connectedness and joyful excitement comes over us. In the case of Amsterdam, so many well-known streets, alleys, facades, and canals have appeared before the camera throughout the years that the city has been effectively immortalized in film in all its rich variety. In the short films assembled here, hidden and notorious areas of the city will be explored, at times at a brisk, hurried pace, at times in a dreamy and casual fashion.
