Constructed by humans, cities exercise an influence on them in return and harbour contradictory currents. Cities are spaces for dissolution among the masses and for individuation, for prospects of employment, the quest for success and at the same time for a new social question, for illuminated skylines and hectic asphalt jungle. Whether it is heated exchanges behind closed apartment doors or life on the street, a lot remains hidden from our gaze here. Beyond the backdrop it provides, the city embodies the inner movements of characters in cinema. Initial elation is followed by alienation. Either these figures conform to the perpetual cycles of urban bustle, or they get dragged under by them.
